Follow These Locals Before You Travel To Amsterdam
You can follow as many travel bloggers as you want, none will give you better travel tips than a local. That’s why I’ve compiled a list of my favorite local Amsterdam Instagrammers you can follow before you arrive. Below is a diverse list that demonstrates the best in brews, bites, and sights in Amsterdam. Hope you enjoy these accounts as much as I do!
@dutchgirlsontheblog
@dutchgirlsontheblog is one of my favorite accounts to follow and she was also one of the very first Amsterdam influencer accounts I followed before moving here in 2017. I have been to several cafes and breakfast spots she’s recommended. As someone new to the city, she’s been super helpful!
@een_wasbeer
Christina takes the most beautiful photos of Amsterdam and other small towns in the Netherlands. Her style is stunning and she’s mastered the art of reflections. Definitely, follow her if you need some lighting and angle inspiration.
@iamsterdam
iAmsterdam is the official tourism account of Amsterdam, but don’t worry, they don’t post anything too touristy. They curate photos from some of the areas top local influencers and some great shots from visitors too. Follow them to research hotels and find unique places to visit while you’re here. Use their hashtag #iamsterdam and maybe they’ll feature your photo.
@cityguysnl
Roger and JP are an amazing vlogger and blogger duo, who somehow manage to visit 100 bars and restaurants per month! They are especially fun to follow because they are both very funny and entertaining. You can also attend some of their events, find them on their facebook page. A lot of their content is in Dutch, but there’s always Google translate.
@windmilldreams
Agata is a happy foodie and creative mind living in the Amsterdam area. If you want to discover Amsterdam’s hotspots, cozy cafes, cute shops (new & vintage), as well as beautiful city corners, then say hello on her insta @windmilldreams.
@amsterdamfoodie
Vicky is a British-Dutch foodie who has lived, worked and eaten in Amsterdam for 12 years. Her blog, AmsterdamFoodie.nl, focuses on objective, independent restaurant reviews and foodie travel guides – no sponsored content here! Her Instagram account @amsterdamfoodie is more of the same – follow her for honest write-ups and tasty adventures as well as lunch inspiration from her cookbook, Working Lunch.
@thecitizen.nl
I suggest following @thecitizen.nl for some fine dining and advanced foodie suggestions. Wine tastings and pairings are a common appearance on her account.
@foodhallen
Foodhallen isn’t technically an influencer but their food pics convince me to keep coming back to this foodie heaven! Foodhallen is kind of a cross between a food court and food truck meet-up. There is often live entertainment and the place is packed, always. It’s the one place I make sure to take every guest I have. You could eat there every night through your whole stay and have something totally different every time. Take a tram out there, it is located north-east of Vondelpark and Museumplein.
@amsterdamcanals
Andrew is a local photographer who managed to get the best Instagram handle @amsterdamcanals. Amsterdam’s canals define this city and result in some amazing photos, like the ones on Andrew’s account. He hosts some Insta-meetups with @dutchie and some other local photographers so look out for those.
@dutchie
Dennis is a local coffee addict and portrait and city photographer. If you’re looking for some good selfie ideas while you’re here, check out his account. Maybe you can even book a portrait session with him.
Have anyone you think I should add to the list? Let me know in the comments.
